What is Note2Self Sending Service and why do I need it?
The Service was designed to make sending voice notes easy and effortless. On BlackBerry the Messaging application combined with BES/BIS limitations require Note2Self to split a message into sub-32kb segments which is very annoying on the receiving end. On Windows Mobile you can send the emails via ActiveSync which requires no setup; or your own SMTP server which requires you to import already working FlexMail settings or type in the SMTP information.

The Note2Self Sending Service is the solution to those issues. All you have to do is register for the service on this page and then enter your username/password in Note2Self Settings on your mobile device and you can send voice-notes immediately! We wanted to make Note2Self the easiest solution on mobile devices so we created this service to provide that. The service is currently free, though it requires registration to prevent SPAM usage. Our goal is to make this easy both to understand and use so we won't use a lot of legalese. The Note2Self Sending Service is a free service provided to Note2Self owners and provides several major benefits:

  • Works over standard web ports so it works even in restricted network environments
  • Works around standard message size limits on BlackBerry or some ISPs.
  • Requires almost no configuration
  • Works around iPhone SDK limitations
  • Uses SSL Encryption for the transfer from the device to the server
  • Your privacy is protected. We do not store recipient email information, the recordings, audit information, or other private information. We store only the following:
    • Your username for authentication purposes
    • The number of emails you've sent for abuse limiting
    • The cumulative size of the emails - again for abuse limiting

WebIS provides this service under the following restrictions and limitations:

  • You may not use the service to send SPAM.
  • You may not send a single message over 10MB in size.
  • You may not send more than 50 messages in a day.
  • We reserve the right to change these terms and if we do we will send an email to you to notify you.
  • Your information will never be shared to any third parties of any kind (except in legally required cases)
  • Your information will be used for the following purposes
    • Authentication during the sending process
    • Contact you for any issue with your account

Privacy Concerns

We take privacy concerns seriously and do a few things to ensure your privacy comes first. First of all, the web service uses a secure HTTPS 128-bit encryption connection to the server. We simply require you to create a unique user ID below.This user ID keeps track of number of the number of emails sent and file sizes sent through our system so we can track anyone abusing the service. No other identifying information is saved in the database - i.e. your email address, the recipient's email address, or the voice recording you are sending. The email server itself does store the recipient email addresses for about seven days and is used exclusively in case of server diagnostics. We have a strict privacy policy and having been in business for over 11 years so we have a reputation to keep!

We feel the combination of benefits and restrictions provides a balanced service and covers 95% of users who want to use Note2Self. We may in the future re-introduce a paid service that lifts the restrictions. Enjoy Note2Self!
